Is Uniform Bar Examination A Hard One?
The UBE test is well-known among law students and anyone with a legal background. It is not incorrect to say that many people with a legal background, see this exam as the most difficult.
The Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) is a relatively new law examination in the United States. So, if you started studying law several years ago, there’s a good chance this exam wasn’t part of your law course. Also, following 2011, UBE gained a lot of traction, and more than half of all US jurisdictions have begun to use it in their administration.
Uniform bar exam services are a relatively new addition to the law school curriculum, and as a result, few students are aware of the challenges it presents. Undoubtedly, students are perplexed as to why they keep asking if the UBE exam is difficult or easy.
What Is UBE?
UBE is composed of three parts:
- The Multistate Bar Examination (MBE)
- Multistate Essay Examination (MEE)
- Multistate Performance Test (MPT)
The total score is divided into three uniform bar exam services sections based on the above components. Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) accounts for 50% of the score, Multistate Essay Examination (MEE) for 30%, and Multistate Performance Test (MPT) 20%.
In the United States of America, many jurisdictions require potential candidates to pass a law part.
The MBEs component consists of 200 multiple-choice questions with a six-hour time limit. This component also includes the following seven legal areas:
- Constitutional Law

- Federal Civil Law
- Rental Property
- Torts
The MEE comprises six essay questions that take 30 minutes to complete. The essays include questions from the MEE subjects as well as questions from other areas such as:
- Agency
- Partnership
- Corporations
- Limited Liability Companies
- Conflict of Laws
- Family Law
- Descendants Estates
- Trusts
- Future Estates
- UCC Article 9
The last MPT comprises legal-related tasks based on a case or facts. This phase will take 90 minutes to complete. The MPT covers topics including as
- Analysis
- Fact Application
- Problem Solving
The UBE test has been implemented by nearly 28 jurisdictions in the United States of America, including 26 states and two territories. The most excellent part about this exam is that it can be scored on the go. This means that if you move shortly after taking the exam, you can transfer your score from one state to another. In addition, after passing the UBE exam, you will be able to operate in any jurisdiction without having to take another bar exam.
It’s vital to note that some states only allow for a 2- to 5-year validity period for scores. This means that if you move to another state after taking the universal bar exam for ten years, you may be required to retake the UBE test.
Is UBE A Hard Examination?
As previously said, UBE is a relatively new addition to the law test program, which is why exam givers are perplexed. The UBE is a difficult exam without question, but it is also extremely fair. The most distinctive aspect of this exam is that both the MCQs and subjective parts have the same score. Each section is worth half a point toward your overall score.
The vast majority of people excel at MCQs or subjective questions. You may find it easy to complete MCQs and challenge yourself to write the appropriate questions at other times.
However, because the UBE test comprises components that all contribute equally to the final score, being good at one section will not work and will not yield good results. As a result, it’s critical to plan for each part and secure as much as possible.
